Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Creative Officer. You will assist with the development and execution of innovative and effective campaigns to help us achieve our strategic aims. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will build effective and robust relationships to ensure that we can deliver appropriate visual assets.

Reporting to the Creative Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our key target audiences receive timely, user-focused messaging, as well as playing a key role in brand guardianship.

This is a wide-ranging role and would a suit self-motivated, resourceful individual, keen to develop their experience in as many areas of the creative and marketing production process as possible. There will be many opportunities for creativity balanced with good organisational and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

We are in a period of change at the RCVS, developing new systems and platforms to support our communications. We are open to reviewing and updating our platforms and approaches to creative problems so there will be opportunities to contribute new ideas to our ways of working.

 

Key Responsibilities

We will need you to…

  • Support the creation of marketing materials, including social media assets, presentations, and print material for events.
  • Support the organisation of our brand and media assets, including graphics, photography and video.
  • Support the management of our social media channels, ensuring brand guidelines are being followed across all platforms.
  • Work closely with a variety of suppliers, freelancers and agencies.
  • Work with colleagues from across the College, helping to provide them with appropriate materials.
  • Help design creative presentations for our stakeholders and spokespeople.
  • Be willing to experiment with new platforms and applications to increase efficiency, as well as creativity.
  • Be comfortable with constructively challenging established ways of working to achieve agreed objectives.
  • Assist on-set for photoshoots and video productions, either at the College or on location across the UK.
  • Assist the events team to produce material for conferences, workshops, ceremonial functions and meetings.
  • Help create digital design mock ups using Figma to quickly demonstrate concepts or ideas.
  • Help organise our design archive post-rebrand.
  • Support the Creative Manage in video editing and the organisation of our Vimeo account post-rebrand.

 

We would also like you to:

  • Help to keep up a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Provide guidance and support about brand best practice to colleagues.
  • Support other areas of work in the Communications Team, as may be reasonably requested by your line manager.

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in a creative field (Marketing, Design, or Communications) OR relevant work experience and a portfolio showcasing personal or professional work.
  • Ideally, you will have undertaken recent, relevant learning or training.

 

Essential skills, knowledge & experience

We need you to have…

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro etc), Figma, and Canva. Training will be provided to fill any skill gaps.
  • Strong organisational skills to support multiple projects and campaigns.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems
  • Experience of agency, freelancer and supplier management, including the ability to on-board new suppliers.
  • Good verbal and written skills for drafting briefs and collaborating with other departments.
  • An appreciation of brand management and how to ensure campaigns reinforce our brand strategy.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, members and suppliers.
