Job Purpose

An opportunity to write and edit learning content for the RCVS Academy online learning management system (LMS). 


Working within the Academy team and collaborating with stakeholders to develop relevant, accurate and responsive learning that supports our professions to meet the standards set by the RCVS. Working within a quality assurance framework to ensure content remains accessible, learner-centric and consistent with our style and guidelines. The role also involves developing communications and tools to increase internal and external engagement with the Academy. 

This is an exciting opportunity to develop learning content that supports our professions, develops the Academy brand, and increases engagement. An enthusiasm for learning with a strong, detail-orientated and organised approach is required to meet the responsibilities of this role. An open-minded, flexible, and positive outlook is essential to support and drive our continuous improvement.  

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Write and edit learning content for the RCVS Academy.  

  • Apply good digital learning writing practice with a creative and professional approach 
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy and relevancy 
  • Curate content from a range of sources to meet required learning outcomes   
  • Work with project plans, maintaining accurate documentation to meet agreed timelines  

 

2. Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to meet the requirements of each individual project. 

  • Build and strengthen stakeholder relationships that support high-quality, efficient delivery 
  • Work flexibly across College departments to meet project milestones 
  • Collaborate with learning designers to develop interactive and engaging content 
  • Work productively and collaboratively within the Academy team to deliver key objectives 

 

3. Apply frameworks and guidelines to quality-assure and drive continuous improvement.  

  • Develop learner-centric content that remains accessible, diverse, and inclusive 
  • Maintain consistency with the Academy style and RCVS brand 
  • Proof-read and edit to meet best digital learning practice 
  • Maintain good knowledge and understanding of high-quality learning content writing 
  • Review and respond to feedback with a solution-focused approach ​

4. Develop and deliver communications that increase Academy engagement. 

  • Write communications that attract and engage a range of learners with the Academy 
  • Support the delivery of the communications strategy 
  • Represent the Academy and RCVS at internal and external events  
  • Ensure communications remain aligned with the Academy principles and RCVS strategy 

 

Essential Qualifications 

  • Registered with the RCVS as an RVN or MRCVS 

 

Essential Criteria-Skills, Knowledge & Experience 

  • Proven industry experience in writing and editing 
  • Proven experience working with educational content 
  • Proven experience with a range of IT systems and Microsoft packages 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and proof-reading skills  
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across a range of stakeholders  
  • Ability to work autonomously and organise own workload effectively to meet deadlines 
  • Experience of working as part of a team and willingness to provide support to colleagues 
  • Experience of working across multiple projects concurrently  
  • Approachable, positive and solution-focused 
  • Open-minded and conscientious with an enthusiasm for own professional development 

 

Desired Criteria-Skills, knowledge and experience 

  • Experience of digital marketing and basic marketing principles   
  • Experience of working within a learning and development environment  
  • Experience of working with a digital learning platform
