Job Purpose

 

With the publication of the new MMI Strategy, this is an opportunity to lead the project into a new era through working with leading organisations and experts to demonstrate our commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing within the veterinary community. Management of the MMI Project, against the new strategy is a core deliverable for this role. Your primary task alongside this, will be to develop strategies for building strong relationships with our key stakeholders across the sector and in other sectors to increase the number of supporters, champions and beneficiaries of the work undertaken by MMI. The team is comprised of the MMI Project Manager, MMI Senior Officer and Research Lead, and sits within the Advancement of the Professions Team. There is significant opportunity for collaboration with internal teams such as EDI, Leadership, the Academy, but also with our charity partner RCVS Knowledge.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Day to day running of the Mind Matters Initiative (see www.vetmindmatters.org ) according to the strategy and operational plan, which will include:

 

 

  • Providing guidelines to the MMI staff and directing their workload to ensure the schedules are being met on time, to a high standard and within budget

 

  • Create and deliver a plan to increase our collaborations with other veterinary organisations and representative groups whilst ensuring current relationships with stakeholders are managed in a positive way.

 

  • Develop positive collaborations with Mind Matters Taskforce organisations and other relevant organisations and individuals across the UK veterinary professions and elsewhere in the world in order to deliver programmes, tools, training and campaigns that will have a positive impact on veterinary mental health and wellbeing – NB it is not necessary for the MMI Manager to create unique mental health content, but to understand how to assess what will work, to help shape and deliver it with appropriate experts, and evaluate success

 

  • Development of general relationships and collaborations with other regulators, Royal Colleges, professional bodies and charities that sit outside the veterinary sector, ensuring knowledge is shared

 

  • Presenting to a variety of audiences on the work of MMI, its remit, purpose and generally encouraging the reduction in stigma around mental health and to promote inclusion. This also includes writing presentations or content for the Director and the MMI Chair.

 

  • Representing MMI at external meetings and events as required throughout the year (both virtually and in-person)

 

  • Overseeing the budget, financial activities of the project and reporting on this as needed

 

  • Ensuring there is regular content being shared by MMI, such as articles, reports, e-newsletters and social media posts and carrying out press interviews, where appropriate, and ensuring that the Mind Matters Initiative website is kept up to date

 

  • The development of specific marketing communications campaigns to promote wellness, destigmatise mental ill-health and promote the activities of the Mind Matters strategy, in conjunction with the RCVS Communications Team

 

  • Monitoring the mental health agenda, particularly in relation to workplace issues and those within the professions, to ensure that our programme remains relevant and innovative

 

  • Leading the implementation of the latest MMI Strategy and reviewing progress at key points

 

  • Line Management of MMI Officer, and Researcher overseeing work and deliverables, providing support as required.

 

  • Oversight of project risks; risk register being reviewed and updated, ensuring safeguarding is in place for team members, colleagues and those interacting with MMI services, conducting a timely review of service providers as needed.

 

  • Reporting and monitoring of the MMI Project, in conjunction with the Research Lead and MMI Officer

 

  • Ensuring that the secretariat function of MMI Taskforce runs smoothly.

 

  • Supporting the CEO with MMI International work as required.

 

  • Demonstrating a collaborative approach to working with internal teams such as Leadership, Inclusion and the Academy, or others, especially in relation to awareness raising intersectional events / activities

 

 

Other:

Contribute to the Advancement of the Professions Team through attending team meetings, training, APC meetings and other workplace initiatives as appropriate.

 

Essential Criteria :

Qualifications

 

  • Demonstrable related experience or degree in aligned field
  • Project Management qualification

 

Experience :

 

  • Successful management of projects or products within budget and to deadlines
  • Within  veterinary, mental health, not for profit or public sector
  • Development and successful implementation of stakeholder management process
  • Co-ordination of external engagement or business development activities
  • Preparation and presentation of comprehensive formal papers for committees, and liaison with committee members & stakeholders
  • Presenting or hosting at industry events or within an academic environment
  • Creation of marketing / communication campaigns to support strategic goals

 

Knowledge / Understanding :

 

  • Knowledge of mental health and wellbeing challenges faced in professional work environments
  • Understanding of knowledge transfer techniques to increase engagement with topics such as mental health or EDI
  • Awareness of Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the impact of these on mental health and wellbeing
  • Line Management Experience
